Shanghai (上海)
21 - 23 Jun 2006
This city is really one of its kind in China - the epitome of the country’s development. The architecture here is amazing. When i stepped out of the subway, almost every single building looked different. Savor the Shanghai buns (上海小龙包)!!
Hangzhou (杭州)
16 - 20 Jun 2006
欲 把西湖比西子,浓妆淡抹总相宜。 Known for its Dragon Well tea (龙井), Hangzhou is home to the famous West Lake (西湖). It looks the best at twilight. Too bad no swimming is allowed in the lake.
Huangshan (黄山)
14 - 15 Jun 2006
五 岳归来不看山,黄山归来不看岳。 I have never climbed so many steps in my entire life before! Despite the fatigue and sweat, the view is really to die for. Breathtaking is an understatement. Huangshan never quite looks the same at any one point.
This is a nice first stop for our graduation trip. The most memorable part is the food. The steps at Sun Yatsen’s Mausoleum (中山陵) are also a perfect warmup to the upcoming Huangshan (黄山) hike.
CHI 2006 Conference was held at Palais des Congrès here. Besides attending the conference, I took the chance to explore this city so rich in its unique European flavor. Despite its cold and windy weather, the underground city made it worthwhile.
We finally found a place to match Toronto’s authentic chinese food here in North America. Vancouver feels like a city surrounded by scenic landscape greens and oceanic blues. The world’s longest suspension bridge swings proudly here.
The Grand Canyon of Arizona is known for its magnificence and grandeur. We marveled, took the (easiest) trail, scaled the rocks, watched its famous imax movie and we wished we had more time.
This is the land of the rum. A humble island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Carribbean Sea to the south, it simply mesmerized me with its down-to-earth and unique charm.
Yes, strawberries grow in bushes! That was my first thought during my first berry-picking trip at Paskorz Farm in Cheswick, Pennsylvania. For some reason, these strawberries and blueberries taste better than Giant Eagle’s.
